What is International Standard for Keep Hot/Cold Liquids of Insulated Stainless-Steel Bottle?

Stainless steel water bottle is a common thermal insulation container, there is a difference in thermal insulation time due to there have many products on the markets. This article will introduce the international standard for stainless steel water bottle holding hot/cold regulations, and discuss the factors which will affecting the holding hot/cold liquids time.

According to international standards (EN 12546-1), the holding time of stainless-steel water bottles should meet the following requirements:

1. Heat preservation standard for hot drinks: Pre-heat the container for (5 ± 1) min by filling it to its nominal capacity with hot water at ≥95℃. Then empty the container and immediately fill it to its nominal capacity with water at ≥95℃. After leaving the container for 6h ± 5min at a temperature of (20 ±2) ℃.

2. Cold drink insulation standard: For stainless steel water bottles loaded with cold drinks, the insulation time should reach more than 12 hours. This means that after 12 hours of filling with cold drinks, the temperature of the liquid in the cup should still be below or close to the standard set temperature.

It is important to note that the international standard does not specify a specific temperature, but sets a time requirement based on common beverage needs. Therefore, the specific holding time may vary depending on factors such as product design, material quality and environmental conditions.

Many factors ill affect the insulation time of stainless-steel water bottle:

1. Structure: The double or triple layer structure of the bottle can provide better insulation effect, reduce heat conduction and radiation, thus extending the heat preservation time.

2. Sealing performance of the lid cover: the sealing performance of the cup cover directly affects the insulation effect. Good sealing performance can prevent the loss of heat or the entry of cold air, to ensure that the holding time is longer.

3. External ambient temperature: The external ambient temperature has a certain impact on the holding time of the bottle. In extremely cold or hot environments, the insulation effect may be slightly reduced.

4. Liquid starting temperature: The starting temperature of the liquid in the cup will also affect the holding time. A higher temperature liquid will have a more pronounced temperature drop over a certain period of time.

In short, the international standard stipulates the insulation time requirements of stainless-steel bottles, which provides a reference index for consumers. However, the actual holding time is also affected by a variety of factors, including the structure of the bottle, the sealing performance of the lid, the external ambient temperature and the starting temperature of the liquid. When purchasing stainless steel water bottles, consumers should consider these aspects comprehensively and buy stainless steel thermos cups according to their needs for insulation time.
